Horseshoe Casino Opening Night Recap

The Horseshoe Casino opened its doors for the first time last night, and without a doubt it was a big hit.

Although the casino opened at 9:30pm, some people had to wait quite awhile to be let in the building considering the line was wrapped around outside through 2:45 in the morning.

There was no cutting of an actual ribbon, but instead a seven minute 3D video was played on the side of the building before the doors opened. Channel 5 Cleveland captured the video, and you can watch it HERE on their website if you were not at the opening.

There are currently 1,600 employees at the casino, and according to Dan Gilbert, 94% of them were employed locally. Gilbert invested $350 million initially in the casino, and he is projecting that 5 million people will visit each year.

The casino features 2,100 slot machines, 63 table games, a 30 table World Series of Poker Room, and a VIP Lounge. There is also a Total Rewards Plan, where casino goers can earn points by eating at casino restaurants and playing the games. Sign up is free, and the biggest points come from table games.

Last night people at the opening described the casino as beautiful, a hit, and overwhelming. So what do you think? Were you at the casino last night? Do you plan to visit the casino any time soon?
