The Feast of the Assumption will take place August 15th-18th in Little Italy. This will mark the 115th year of celebrating the feast on the historic streets.
The feast is a Catholic Holy Day that celebrates The Virgin Mary going to Heaven. A service is celebrated At Holy Rosary Church at 10:00 a.m. after a statue of Mary is taken in procession throughout the neighborhood.
During the four days of festivities, booths are set up behind the church and behind the churchyard featuring Italian foods, live music and rides for young children. Independent vendors are also spread down Murray Hill and many restaurants will have open backyard patios with bands performing.
On the final evening of the Feast a candlelight procession is held to honor Mary. Fireworks will conclude the feast on the 18th.
Don’t forget to stop by the new and improved IAB Club (Italian American Brotherhood) that is located across the street from the old building.
The event is open to the public. For more information, click HERE.
